The Area Marketing Manager will develop annual local marketing and PR plans that extend and complement North American Marketing initiatives. This marketer will drive visibility to, and adoption of, integrated messaging; promote new product launches; and adapt corporate programs to local market needs.
This position is responsible for understanding the market, sales and customer challenges faced within the geography and then tailoring North American Marketing initiatives, programs, communications and sales tools to address these factors in an effort to attain the desired business objectives for the area.
This Manager will monitor, analyze and report measurement against the key performance indicators for local marketing programs and will represent the voice of the assigned area in the development of marketing plans to ensure local leverage of all available resources.
-Work with North American Marketing Team, local area management and others as they are determined to develop annual strategic and tactical plans to create leverage and efficiency across assigned geographic area, driving greater marketing ROI.
-Drive active awareness of the brand, messaging, positioning and marketing programs including events demand generation activities for use by the field, and align these activities with local follow-up.
-Supervise translation of materials and customer facing tools to improve customer and market penetration and sales success.
-Leverage the Corporate Yellow Page program to optimize investment for the Canadian market.
-Serve as PR liaison to Corporate Communications for ongoing proactive and reactive media relations.
-Engage in an active feedback loop to represent the interests and needs of the assigned geographic area as the North America Marketing Team develops new programs.
-Advocate use of marketing tools and resources that enable field organizations to achieve their success. Through active communication channels, support new product launches in the field.
-Maximize local marketing opportunities through the use of Best Practices for sponsorships, key regional events, and promotional marketing efforts.
-Manage efforts to a budget.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
A. Successful candidate will have 7-10 years business-to-business marketing experience with demonstrated achievement in leading area / geographic marketing programs within a large corporate environment that has a direct sales force.
B. Bi-lingual (English and French Canadian) language skills and Canadian market knowledge required.
C. Strong command of, and ability to integrate, a broad set of marketing disciplines including but not limited to: brand, market assessment, database marketing, relationship marketing, web marketing, public relations, collateral and sales tools.
D. The successful candidate will have a strong achievement orientation, solid planning and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated results in a matrixed organization.
E. Must be an independent self-starter with a sense of urgency and a strong desire to be part of building something new. Requires strong project management skills with an affinity for producing consistently high-quality work and yield with a customer focus.
F. Creative thinking, critical analysis and problem-solving skills, along with flexibility/adaptability are essential. Knowledge of design process desirable.
G. Must have working knowledge of personal computing, using Microsoft OS, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook (or Lotus Notes), Adobe Acrobat and, ideally web publishing software.
